Well Woman Clinics

We hold a dedicated Well Woman Clinic run by the practice nurses during normal surgery hours for cervical smears, postnatal checks and discussion of women’s health issues. Please book a 20-minute appointment.

Smear tests are a simple and painless procedure recommended for all women aged 25 to 64 years of age. The NHS Cervical Screening Wales service will send you a reminder letter every 3 years to advise you to come in for your smear test. Once you have had your smear test, the samples are sent to the lab for analysis. The result will be posted to your home address from the Cervical Screening Wales service approximately 6-8 weeks after the test has been done. A copy will also be sent to the practice and if necessary, we will contact you to discuss the results of your test.

After the birth of your baby, your Midwife and the Health Visitor will visit you at home to check that everything is okay. If you need to see your GP, this can be done either by requesting a home visit or if you feel well enough, an appointment at the surgery. At around 6-8 weeks after the birth, you should make an appointment for a postnatal check.

Antenatal & Postnatal Care

The Practice provides full antenatal and postnatal care for new mums and our GPs work alongside the attached Midwifery Team to monitor your health and the progress of your pregnancy.

During the antenatal stages, we make sure that you are ‘booked in’ to the hospital and have arranged your scan dates. The frequency of antenatal appointments and involvement of midwives and other healthcare professionals will vary depending upon the pregnancy, but this will be discussed with you throughout your pregnancy.
